Wellstone March 2nd Meeting

Save the Date!
The Wellstone Progressive Democrats of Sacramento Monthly Meeting will be held:

Thursday, March 2nd, 2017
Meeting @ 7:00 pm, doors open @ 6:00

South Natomas Library
2901 Truxel Rd,
Sacramento, CA 95833
[MAP]

Come out and hear from people who have been battling Pres. Trump ... and bring your ideas. Since he's trampling the environment, we will vote on a bylaw revision to create a VP spot for Environmental Affairs. We'll also discuss the future of our state party. Who should lead us into the next electoral battles? Should our club host a debate between the candidates? Turns out they are both interested. So maybe in April, we will. If you come, you are welcome to bring a snack dish to share. Meeting starts at 7, but doors will open at 6.

Our Agenda will include:

Women's March on Sacramento

SAT. Jan 21st - 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Women's March on Sacramento - Sister March of Women's March on Washington
State Capitol, 1325 10th Street

From the organizers:

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington and its sister marches throughout the country will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

Say No to Islamophobia, No to racism, YES to justice!

Vigil on Wed., Dec. 21, 2016, 5:30 p.m.
State Capitol, west steps

Join Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP – www.jvp.org) and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR www.ca.cair.com) as we say No to Islamophobia, No to racism and YES to justice!

JVP’s Network against Islamophobia will be rekindling our commitment to justice in Sacramento and in 30 other cities across the country, on the solstice and days before Hanukka, the Jewish festival of light.

Now, more than ever, on the shortest day of the year, after a dark election season, we must pledge to challenge injustice and build a society rooted in love and dignity for all peoples and communities.

Hundreds of participants will hold electronic “candles” as others display and read aloud from candle-imaged posters stating specific commitments against hate and for justice, one for each of the eight nights of Hanukka.
